7. Learn About Nebulizers

Your doctor will have you purchase a nebulizer if your child is too young to receive long-acting or rescue medication through an inhaler.  A nebulizer is significantly bigger and less portable than an inhaler. 

It’s made up of 4 pieces--a cup that holds liquid long-acting or rescue medication, a compressor that turns the medicine into mist, a face mask or mouthpiece for the child, and the tubing that connects the face mask to the compressor.
